Beth Kanter has an excellent resource on Non-profits, health care and social media which includes this slide presentation:
With 136 slides, there’s a lot to digest, but it shows the wide array of possibilities for nonprofits to engage their communities with social media. It’s obvious from data on slide #19 that getting information out on the Internet is important, as 59% of Americans (and one can assume Canadians as well) get their health information online.
Also, it is becoming just as important to connect people and communities, as slide #25 shows – “People tend to trust ‘a person like me’ more than authority figures from business, government or the media.”
Beth’s presentation and accompanying resources on her wiki show how important it is for non-profits and health care professionals to connect, not just distribute information, using social media.
