I’ve been adding information to this website over the past week. It comes from the Workforce Advisory Committee of the MHCC and it’s taking some time for a neophyte like myself to make sense of it all. The amount of information is enormous and my intent is to get as much as possible on this site and then chunk it into smaller pieces that can be digested by the average business person. For instance, the Facts page is fairly straightforward and easy to read, but the Implementation section (still in progress) contains more information than most people will ever need.
There is no doubt that all of this information is important, as The Ottawa Citizen noted that 2008 has been the worst year for disability claims in the public service and that over 44% of these are mental health conditions.
My next tasks are to complete the resource pages on this site and then take on one of the concepts around implementation and turn it into a presentation that makes sense to folks in the workplace.
